{"id":1468,"date":"2016-04-27T13:16:19","date_gmt":"2016-04-27T13:16:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.honesdalerootsandrhythm.com\/?p=1468"},"modified":"2016-04-27T13:16:19","modified_gmt":"2016-04-27T13:16:19","slug":"sarah-borges-joins-2016-rr-lineup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/honesdalerootsandrhythm.com\/?p=1468","title":{"rendered":"Sarah Borges Joins 2016 R&amp;R Lineup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(Honesdale, April 27, 2016)\u2026Boston-raised Sarah Borges calls her sound \u201cstraight up rock and roll.\u201d\u00a0 She and her band, The Broken Singles, join the main stage lineup for the 11<sup>th<\/sup> annual Honesdale Roots &amp; Rhythm on June 18<sup>th<\/sup> in Honesdale\u2019s Central Park, right before headliner Amy Helm.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cSarah Borges was influenced by the Indie rock movement of the late 1990s,\u201d says Randy Kohrs, music coordinator for Roots &amp; Rhythm, \u201cbands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam and punk revivalists like Green Day, and that rock sound comes through in many of her recordings. And she loves to perform live. She has said openly that being on stage is her passion. Should be a good show!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Borges newest album, <em>Good and Dirty<\/em>, released in March, includes songs that touch on many emotions from sad to happy. Her autobiographical \u201cTendency to Riot\u201d is about \u201cfinding yourself at loose ends, and trying to figure out how to go out and have fun,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Borges and The Broken Singles, along with Amy Helm are two of the four bands lined up for Roots &amp; Rhythm\u2019s main stage. Kickoff in Central Park begins at 1:30pm, but the event starts much earlier with local bands playing on Main Street starting at 10:30am.<\/p>\n<p>Roots &amp; Rhythm is a free family-entertainment event that also offers artisan wares for sale by the artists themselves (Artist\u2019s Row), food vendors, and activities for children.\u00a0 Tunes &amp; Tales, sponsored by Lisa Macchia-Ohliger, will provide hands-on demonstrations and storytelling in the courtyard of the Central United Methodist Church.<\/p>\n<p>Roots &amp; Rhythm will also offer several workshops around the festival, including a music workshop the night before at Basin and Main, 564 Main Street, with Two-Thirds Goat, a bluesy country band that will open the main stage on Saturday, followed by Tall Pines, Borges and the headliner, Amy Helm.<\/p>\n<p>Honesdale Roots &amp; Rhythm, a non-profit, \u201cgreen\u201d event, is produced by volunteers and always looking for more volunteers.
