Mission Statement

Honesdale Roots & Rhythm Music & Arts Festival

The Greater Honesdale Partnership and the Wayne County Arts Alliance are proud to announce the second annual Honesdale Roots & Rhythm Music & Arts Festival, June 21, 2008.

The purpose of this festival is to benefit the Greater Honesdale Area by producing an annual music and art celebration in the heart of beautiful, historic Honesdale.

The festival will feature a variety of musical styles appealing to a broad spectrum of tastes and ages including, but not limited to, blues, jazz, folk, country, bluegrass, and roots. Area artists and artisans will have their work on display. We believe that all community efforts to nurture participation in the arts improve the quality of life for all members of our community. The appeal of the festival is enhanced by the scenic beauty of Honesdale’s Central Park and surrounding areas, and it is anticipated that the festival will greatly increase the number of tourists and visitors to our area.

The goals of the festival include the following:

The further promotion and development of tourism by expanding Honesdale’s reputation as an arts center and cultural destination recognized as providing artistic events attracting broad based participation.

To educate and expose the members of our community to a large variety of music and art.

To involve as many people from the community as is practical; keeping the community informed of progress in planning events, and welcoming suggestions and ideas.

To encourage participation by local businesses and serve as a platform to promote local business as much as possible.

To emphasize promising local talent and offer both established and emerging musicians and artists an opportunity to showcase their material.

To thoroughly entertain everyone who attends.
